Climbing in the Gunks

A few days ago I had the opportunity to shoot some rock climbing at the Trapps cliffs in the Mohonk Preserve… more affectionately known as “The Gunks” (because they are in the Shawangunk mountains).

By the way- did you know that we are licensed by the FAA to shoot photos and video commercially with a drone?  It sure adds a great perspective to adventure sports photography, doesn’t it?!

It was a bit of a chilly day, but not unreasonable.  A stray sprinkle passed by, but again, no big deal.  The coolest part was that these nice gent’s had the place to themselves!  Not a common occurrence at this popular climbing destination, with it’s accessibility, proximity to New York City, and it’s notoriety… in a good way of course… in the climbing community.

Thanks to this cool crew for the opportunity- and I’m really looking forward to more Gunks climbing photography projects this spring and summer!  And getting out and climbing myself, of course…
